Nufern

Established in February 1998, Nufern is the commercial arm of a successful research program at the Australian Photonics Cooperative Research Center.  Nufern draws upon the knowledge of this internationally recognized research group and as such its roots in fiber research date back over 20 years.  Nufern has been developing and manufacturing special purpose optical fibers at its facilities in Australia since 1990.  Products include photosensitive fibers for Fiber Bragg Gratings and rare-earth doped fibers for high-power in-fiber lasers and amplifiers. Currently Nufern is the only independent supplier of these high quality fibers. The company is led by Martin Seifert, formerly of Lucent Technologies.
